What Happens If You Fail ACFT?
If you fail the ACFT, it means you did not meet the minimum passing requirements in one or more of the six events: 3-rep max deadlift, standing power throw, hand-release push-ups, sprint-drag-carry, plank (or leg tuck), or the 2-mile run. Failing can affect promotion eligibility, duty assignments, and overall career progression. Soldiers who fail are usually given a chance to retest within a designated period, often 90 days, while focusing on improving weak areas. Tracking progress with an ACFT calculator and performing event-specific training can help prevent failure and ensure soldiers meet the Army’s fitness standards in the future.
